BS UPDATE APRIL 2018

Hey Everybody!

Wow, what an IMMENSE few weeks of soul lifting activities! Not gonna lie, I slept in quite a bit after six nonstop days of the NY Hot Jazz Camp culminated in a huge all day musical blowout at the Gotham Jazz Festival. It was a lot of fun to co-direct and see and hear old and new friends! We're looking at dates for next year... Stay tuned :):)

But as always I'm looking forward and spring is ramping up so FIRST I'm channeling that energy into my last of the Joe's Pub series April 25th with a theme of VELOCITY. It's been a blast playing new tunes at this cool crossover venue. I'll be hopping around the East coast for gigs & workshops in all the "New" spots: New Jersey, New York and New Hampshire. I'm thrilled to be working more closely with the Louis Armstrong House Museum and will be hosting an all ages "Family Day" workshop talking about COMMUNITY and how Louis brought people together on April 29th. Happy Jazz Appreciation Month!

It's here!! In 1998 my buddy Colin "40" Farquhar started a trad jazz combo at Chilliwack Senior Secondary School; I joined in 11th grade and the rest is history! This group is where I learned about Louis Armstrong, Jelly Roll Morton, Sidney Bechet and the music biz. The 51st Eight became the first Canadian Youth Band to play the Sacramento Jubilee which spiraled into 10 years of total music and mayhem you can learn about HERE :D We graduated with a name change to the Big Bang Jazz Band and in 2013 we celebrated 15 yrs at the Vancouver Dixiefest. Here we are again ready to rock socks and dance pants!
