July 31st - Bria Skonberg "Body and Soul"
Good morning world! I LOVE this version of Body and Soul arranged by my friend Mark Buselli- You heard a minute of it a few months ago in a duet I did with Rachel Therrien and here we all are plus Scott Belck AND a rhythm section 🔥 Flugels and trumpets a plenty! Hope this warms up your weekend ☀️ Zach Lapidus - Piano * Joel Tucker - Guitar *Nick Tucker - Bass * Cassius Goens III - Drums * Christoph Thompson - Engineer
July 28th - Bria Skonberg and Charlie Parker
“An Oscar For Treadwell” - Charlie Parker Fun fact: Oscar Treadwell “OT” was a beloved jazz radio journalist and presenter based out of Cincinnati. He inspired a few other tunes: "Treadin 'with Treadwell" (1950) by Wardell Gray & "Oska T" (1955) by Thelonious Monk Less fun: This is a deceivingly difficult dexterity workout in the sax register! Trumpeters shed this for a few days and you can skip the Clarke studies 😬😬😊 #trumpet #Tuesday #transcription
Bria Skonberg and Juneteenth
Lift Every Voice And Sing (James Weldon Johnson, J. Rosamond Johnson) 🎵 I celebrate Black freedom today and the opportunity of this moment to make meaningful overdue change. 100% of any money I make this weekend through my website merch or donations will be donated to the NAACP. #Juneteenth #BLM
Bria Skonberg with the Mighty Aphrodite Jazz Band!
#wcw my most fabulous gal pals of the Mighty Aphrodite Jazz Band! ❤️❤️ one of the only good things about quarantine is reuniting virtually with friends. It’s been almost a decade since we’ve all been in the same place but the “MAJB” had a heckuva run playing many festivals, swing dance events and even on a few cruises, bonding us for life despite being based on both sides of the US/Canada border. We had some mighty adventures, and I’m a little relieved people weren’t always filming then 😂😉 ooh boy. Anyhoo this song is called “Big Bear Stomp” (Lu Watters & Yerba Buena JB) which was part of the trad jazz revival of the 1940s originating in the SF Bay Area, and is still a lot of fun to play. #nowyouknow 🌈 Claire Piersol, Clarinet & Co-Founder 🙂 Emily Asher, trombone Jen Hodge, bass Shelley Park, guitar Shannon Thue, piano Elizabeth Goodfellow, drums & shoutout to original member Georgia Korba!
May 19th - Bria Skonberg with Darrian Douglas 🥁Devin Starks 🎻 Joe Webb 🎹 and Michael Blake
Warning: this song will get stuck in your head!! It felt so good to hear and groove with these guys on a track from one of my desert island discs, “Ben and Sweets”. Thank you Darrian Douglas 🥁Devin Starks 🎻 Joe Webb 🎹 and Michael Blake🎷 (ps Happy Bday MB!🥳💛) (pps Eazy Bucket Mutes)
April 25th - Bria Skonberg with Ben Paterson

April 22nd - Bria Skonberg - Earth Day
Happy Earth Day! 🌎 see you soon for our FB live hangout! Meanwhile My incredible frère from another mère Mathis Picard created a YouTube show around the history of the piano and trees as inspiration and it was fun “jamming” with him on this piece of Canadian content 🇨🇦 Joni Mitchell speaks the truth! 🌲 Check out his channel for the whole episode featuring more wonderful friends/artists honouring Mother Nature 💚💚💙💚 🙏 here’s a small clip
April 15th - Bria Skonberg with Michael Blake 🎷 Cat Toren 🎹 Owen Howard 🥁 Brandi Disterheft
If this makes you happy, blame Canada 😁🇨🇦 A couple of weeks ago fellow NYC based Canadian Michael Blake and I were interviewed by CBC/Radio-Canada to talk about our experiences here during the pandemic. It inspired us to team up with a few fellow Canadians in NYC to make some cheerful music in a not so cheerful time. This is Dizzy Gillespie’s arrangement of Sunnyside of The Street ☀️ with Michael Blake 🎷 Cat Toren 🎹 Owen Howard 🥁 Brandi Disterheft 🎻
April 13th - Bria Skonberg with Molly Ryan
Bye Bye Blues by NYHJC Directors Molly & Bria Today would have been the first full day at the 5th NY Hot Jazz Camp 😣 This is a passion project Molly Ryan and I co-founded in 2015 to celebrate, connect and expand a community that treasures the many benefits of early jazz, and it has brought us SO much joy along the way. Band camp baby! 😁 so we say “Bye Bye Blues” 🎵 I’m thinking about all the wonderful faculty and guests past and present, students, staff, volunteers, our partners and friends Greenwich House Music School and Prohibition Productions and sending love ❤️ Most of all my heart and healing thoughts go out to trombone instructor Ron Wilkins who is suffering badly from COVID 😢 please do the same. Thank you all!
April 7th - Bria Skonberg with Rachel Therrien
